INTERVIEWS PENOR RINPOCHE
November 14, 1999
Christen- Rinpoche, what do you believe is the most pressing issue humanity faces and what is your vision of
how to address it?
Penor Rinpoche- Actually all humanity, we must work for the benefit of others. There are those
who have and there are those who have not. We must wish not only for our own happiness
but for the happiness of others. That's why the people of the world, they have
to help each other, they must work to get help to those in need, everyone, everybody.
How to help, each individual can by becoming enlightened. We can through the study
of the Dharma and then for those who are open to the Dharma, we can get teachings
to them, and by trying to spread the Dharma vision to everyone, I think that will
help everyone.
Christen-
And what does Rinpoche believe is his greatest accomplishment, that he's given
so far, in his opinion...what he is most proud of, that he has done to help, because
I know he has done so much, if there is one thing he thinks in his heart that
he can share with the students.
Penor Rinpoche-
Actually I am simply one of the religious practitioners. That's where I live.
I'm trying to spread the Dharma and so far where I spend most of my time, with
the local people and in the local area, most of the people I ask them to join
with the Dharma and so far I have gotten everyone, sharing with the Dharma and
through that the community gets peaceful and this gets everyone to help each other.
That's what I can say from my opinion.
Christen-
I want to ask Rinpoche what does he consider the biggest obstacle he has ever
faced and how did he overcome it? To help the students so that they can overcome
their obstacles, what for him was an obstacle, that he had to overcome.
Penor Rinpoche- So far to do what I have done for the Dharma, sometimes there have been a few
financial obstacles, a little, but as far as my practice and my teachings, I don't
have too much problem there. That's why I don't know what to say.
Christen-
One last question before we end. I just want to ask Rinpoche what last few words
of wisdom he would like to give to the students. What else would he like to share
with them?
Penor Rinpoche- So far I give so many teachings for my students. What's most important is that
they don't try to believe only for this life, but also for their future lives
to come. The bigger picture. They have to be reminded. They have to believe. Future
lives. I mean the next life and all future lives to come. That is why they have
to know the cause of karma. If they realize the cause of karma, then they can
act better. The results of their actions are better. Everything getting better.
If you don't believe so, if you don't act properly, the cause of karma, you cannot
escape. That's what I wish that everyone understand, karma.
Christen-
Thank you Rinpoche.
