Practical Preparation for coming to the US
Health and Insurance. Get a copy of your medical records so that in case of emergency,
you will receive appropriate treatment. If possible, have the records translated
into English.
Before you leave your country, try to acquire an international driver's license,
which will allow you to drive in the U.S. immediately, but for only the first 90
days. Afterwards, you can apply at your local Department of Motor Vehicles in
the U.S. for a U.S. driver's license.
